World Heritage Day

The State Government of Telangana has organized various programmes coinciding with the World Heritage Day celebrations on April 19, 2015. Marking the occasion, the Director of the Department of State Archaeology and Museums, Sri BP Acharya launched a state-of-the-art interpretation centre at the state Archaeology Museum, Nampally in the presence of Additional chief of Tourism and Department of Archaeology, Mrs. Sunita M. Bhagwat, and Convenor INTACH, Hyderabad Chapter, Smt. Anuradha Reddy, Prof. KP Rao and other eminent personalities.

The history of Hyderabad is depicted on an interactive wall, a digital engagement format which allows visitors to interact with images and QR codes on the wall, with the help of smart phones and tablets to experience sights from the past, apart from multi touch interfaces and LED television.

Sri Acharya also launched a coffee table book titled ‘Rock Art Sites in Telangana’ and a new website for the department, created with high end design for online users and those who wish to explore the archaeological monuments and museums of the state.

A heritage themed paintings competition for children was also organised and prizes were distributed recognizing their contribution and talent.
