Preventive Conservation of Egyptian Mummy

State Museum, Hyderabad is home to a rare 2,354-year old Egyptian mummy of 18-year-old Leshu, the daughter of Egyptian King Pharaoh VI. A workshop was organized by the Directorate of State Archaeology, Telangana for preventive conservation of this mummy in collaboration with Mr. Vinod Daniel, Heritage Conservation Advisor to the project and Mr. Anupam Sah, Art Conservation Expert.
This involved preparing a methodology of work for identifying the reasons for the deterioration of the Mummy and implement preventive conservation so that the Mummy can be handled for further studies. The workshop involved elaborate technical analysis of the Mummy including Microphotography, CT Scan, X ray etc.
